Tool

Solo Instrument Transcription Tester

How this works. Pick or upload a solo instrument audio file. The browser runs monophonic pitch detection (autocorrelation) on the audio buffer, groups consecutive same-pitch frames into note events, and renders a piano roll. The detected notes then feed a multi-instrument description (key, range, suggested arrangement) — useful for stress-testing what a real transcription pipeline would see. Best on solo, clean recordings (≤30s). Polyphonic audio will give noisy results.

Synthesized output (re-synth from detected notes)

The browser re-generates audio from the detected note stream so you can A/B it against the original input. Sine + 2nd harmonic, soft envelope.

Multi-instrument description

Generated from the detected note stream. Treat as a *starting point* for arranging a multi-instrument version of the solo.

Sample melodies included

C major scale (C4–C5)

Pure sine-wave scale. The pitch detector should hit every note cleanly. Good baseline sanity check.

Expected: 8 notes · C major · ~1 note / second

A minor melody

Sawtooth + sine blend. More realistic timbre. Tests how the detector handles non-sine waveforms.

Expected: 8 notes · A minor · ~80 BPM

Cello-ish drone

A single sustained low note (C3) with vibrato. Tests long-note tracking and vibrato handling.

Expected: 1 note · C3 · ~3 sec duration
